Day 2

woke up freezing cold at 6:30 in this barn, i slept great but alex did not. spent about and hour warming up and eating peanut butter sandwiches, the we went and packed up our gear and set out heading south on U.S. highway 45. we did about 10 miles in 45 minutes all the way to the first gas station we saw and got coffee. the ladies running the joint were cool, alex and i each bought a cup of coffee and the ladies said we could chill and grab a few refills if we wanted. we gladly took them up on this, i was even able to bum a smoke from someone. ended up changing into cooler clothes at the gas station and headed on our way. we stopped in a few little towns along the way and grabbed some breaks. the wind was kicking our asses all day and it was a slow uphill for about 30 miles all day. the riding sucked, there are parts of me going numb that i didn't even know could go numb! but we did get a few breaks in the day, a very nice lady gave us some homemade Cinnamon rolls from her cafe and a nice guy gave us a ride from Buckley to Rantoul, where we are camping tonight! plan to hit u of i in the morning! so yeah, thank you so much lady in the cafe, guy with the truck, and campground ranger!!!
